September message from the President

Posted by Director on September 3, 2019

We’ve had a busy summer as a club, kicking it off with our annual board retreat. We discussed our goals for 2019-2020 and how we, as a board, can serve the membership better. We will be working this year to update our communications (including this newsletter), evaluate/increase membership value, and increase student awareness of and involvement in the club.

Our AdBASH volleyball tournament was again a success. It was perfect weather and a great time. Congratulations to the winners and thank you to our sponsors and everyone who came out. Check out our Facebook page for pictures of the event. We’d love for you to share your pictures and tag AAF Toledo!

We also had our second Mosaic event, Creating D+I Strategies for D+I Success. It was a great, open discussion lead by Margarita De Leon about not only committing to creating an open workplace, but also identifying action items to make sure it really happens. As a bonus, we were able to see the beautifully renovated Great Hall and Promedica Museum of Natural History in the Toledo Zoo.

This summer, we were also tasked with searching for a new Executive Director. I’m happy to report after some tough decisions, we believe we’ve found the right person for the job. Darcie Lynch has been training with Patty the past few months and officially assumed the role on September 1st. We’re excited for this new chapter and look forward to working with her.

Our annual Internship Event will be held at the Hilton Garden Inn, Perrysburg on Saturday, November 9th. The Internship Event is a collaborative effort between AAF Toledo, the Press Club of Toledo, and PRSA Northwest Ohio. This event brings together students, professionals, and prospective employers for a unique networking and educational experience. There are several sponsorship opportunities available. Please visit our website for more details.

If you would like to become more involved within the club, we have several committees that could use your help! We would love to have your input, and you do not need to be on the Board of Governors in order to participate.  To find out more about becoming involved on one of our committees, please reach out to Darcie Lynch by clicking HERE .

Thank you for your continued support of AAF Toledo. To stay up to date with everything AAF Toledo, please follow us on Facebook , Instagram , LinkedIn , and Twitter .
